Hair loss is a frustrating condition that can sometimes feel like you aren’t in control. There are multiple products that are available to treat this condition, both OTC and RX. As an example, minoxidil is available over the counter in up to a 5% strength.

We can compound up to a 10% strength of minoxidil, and we can do it in combination with another medication called finasteride! When you have a compounded formulation with both minoxidil 10% and finasteride 0.1%, you are attacking the problem from 2 angles mechanistically. By applying these medications topically to the scalp, you are also avoiding most of the side effects of the medications that would be present if you swallowed them in pill form. When taken in pill form, minoxidil can cause blood pressure to drop.
